DTS Futsal Cup October 2017

DTS 2017 FUTSAL Tournament

Once again the DTS organized the DTS Summer Futsal tournament. This year’s tournament which took place at the 7th October 2017 set up a record with 46 youth football teams and more than 350 players from all over Windhoek participating. Clubs and school teams came from Ramblers, SKW, ACFA, Falcons, Namutoni Primary School, Mandume Primary School, MH Greef Primary School and DTS.

Except for the youngest kids in age groups 7 and 8 who had their games at the grass field, the teams were playing Futsal in the DTS hall. Futsal slightly differs from soccer regarding main rules and game speed. Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided football game, mainly played indoors, and is recognized by Fifa.

DTS is the pioneer in introducing Futsal in Namibia to the youth and hosted the DTS Youth Summer Cup for the third time in 2017

U11:

The U11 A team had it difficult from the first game in their group, primarily in the goal keeping department. The boys where very emotional having suffered defeats, but they managed to keep their heads high and played their hearts out during every single match. They have learned a great deal especially since most of them were on average at least one year younger than most opponents they have played. They couldnt make it into the play offs.

The U11B team fought hard as well and many of the players have kindled an ambitious nature, and thus have a lot more drive to not only play but also to try and compete regardless of who the opponents are. Although they couldn't in a game they showed ambitious football and had a lot of fun.
