Ramblers tournament 2017
DTS Football players, parents and coaches enjoyed a great tournament which took place at Ramblers from the 14th to the 16th of July 2017.
DTS Football Academy couldn’t win a gold medal / trophy but managed to win several silver medals in a highly competitive and tight competition.
The tournament was organized in an A stream for the top class teams and a B stream for the developing teams, giving also the younger players in the several age sections from U7 to U11 the chance of having a fair chance in the competition (and winning some games).
Here are the results:
Under 7 A: DTS Eagles – 4th place
After the winning of the Silver Medal at the DTS tournament, we only came fourth place at the Ramblers tournament – It was a very tough and tight fight among six brilliant teams with some unlucky decision against DTS. We really had some good and fair competition in the A stream and learned a lot in this tournament.
Under 7 B: DTS Hawks – Silver Medal
In an exciting Round Robin, the little Hawks managed to win the Silver medal – First medal for our Under 7 DTS B Team. A lot of the players are still only five years old and fought hard and well against mostly older players.
Under 9 A: DTS Tigers - Silver Medal
A great improvement could be seen with the DTS tigers. They went unbeaten through the first, brilliant four matches and finally lost against a superb Athletico team in a dramatic final 5:2.
Under 9 B: DTS Lions - Silver Medal
The DTS Lions played an amazing game with a lot of team spirit and dedication. In a very competitive B group they won all games clearly and only lost in an incredibly exciting final against SKW B 1:0.
Under 11 A: DTS A - Silver Medal
The Under 11 A Team, who won the DTS tournament just a month ago, were among the favorites to win the A Stream category. They proofed no one wrong by winning all they matches in the group stage and faced SFC A in the semi-final in a rematch of the DTS Final from last month. Once again DTS showed their tactical skills and beat SFC 1-0, with a sensational goal by Luca K qualifying for the final without having conceded a goal during the whole tournament. Unfortunately team captain Luca K sustained a foot injury during the semifinal which forced him to miss the final against all time rivals Ramblers A, who wanted to take revenge for the defeat against DTS A a few weeks ago. Ramblers A were just too strong this time and won 3-0 and our boys were up in tears but very soon very proud of their silver medal in the A stream category.
Under 11 B: DTS B - Silver Medal
The Under 11 B Team managed to finish 2nd in their group qualifying for the semifinals, where they faced SFC B. The brave boys managed to score an early goal and lead 1-0 until SFC equalized just minutes before the final whistle. A very unlucky B Team conceded another goal just a few seconds from the end of the game and lost 1-2 to SFC B. In the play off for third place SKW B were too strong, and just like in the Group phase they lost and finished 4th place in the B stream category.
Under 13: DTS did not qualify for semi-final
The Under 13 team continues to improve and is on the right way. Coaches and players are continuously training to be become better one game at a time. This time at the Ramblers tournament the DTS Under 13 didn't prevail against the best, yet became a team to recon with.
Under 15: DTS - Bronze Medal
The Under 15 team was the biggest surprise at the Ramblers tournament. They were able to overcome their weaknesses by highly motivated team work. They were unbeaten against strong teams like Otjiwarongo and Swallows and deserved a 3rd place.
